Stafl Systems Proud Partner in New World Speed Record
SAN FRANCISCO — Stafl Systems is proud to announce its partnership as the electronics contractor for the Genovation GXE world record speed test last week. The Genovation GXE, an all-electric Corvette, reached a top speed of 186.8 mph during testing in Florida on February 23.
This new record, in the Top Speed Street Legal Electric Car category, topped a previous record set by a Finnish prototype car in 2014.
"The Genovation team is a pleasure to work with. Pushing the boundaries of technology on this high-performance car is providing valuable lessons that will help build the next generation of electric vehicles," said Erik Stafl, president of Stafl Systems. "Getting in this car and feeling the smooth delivery of torque in a vehicle this fast is simply incredible."
Stafl Systems was the primary electronics contractor for the world record setting vehicle. The company produced the vehicle control unit, battery management system and worked with a number of subcontractors to provide the other electronic components. In total, Stafl Systems had 19 circuit boards helping with everything from sensing the accelerator pedal position to controlling the electric powertrain to regulating the charge and discharge of the vehicle's 44 kWh lithium ion batteries.
